Mourning for Erwin Eisch
The world-renowned artist Erwin Eisch passed away on 25 January 2022 at the age of 94. With him, the world of glass loses an outstanding personality and source of inspiration for generations of artists. Since the 1960s, Erwin Eisch used glass as a medium of artistic expression in his multifaceted work, in addition to painting. Together with his friend Harvey Littleton, he is considered a co-founder of the international studio glass movement.
The Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung will have fond memories of Erwin Eisch, the inspiring encounters, exchanges and joint projects with him. His works have been on display in various exhibitions of the foundation; among others, in 2013 it dedicated an exhibition to the eminent artist under the title Where are you? Sculptures by Erwin Eisch, the first exhibition in its Master | Meister series. The foundation owns one of the largest coherent Erwin Eisch collections with works from various phases of the artist. These works will be shown again and again in future exhibitions. In this way, the work of Erwin Eisch remains alive and we will encounter him again and again.
