Future Horizons. Glass in contemporary Art

Starting 10 October 2025, Future Horizons. Glass in Contemporary Art will be on display as the major anniversary exhibition in the BlackBox and BlackBox FirstFloor of the Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung.

The exhibition features impressive sculptures and installations by around 50 international artists, including works by Tony Cragg, Erwin Eisch, Mona Hatoum, Alicja Kwade, Kiki Smith, and Ann Wolff. What all the works have in common is a material that is rarely used in art: glass. It unfolds its specific effect through light and color, through haptics and technical sophistication, a narrative quality, and its emotional aura. The exhibits on display, which belong to the collection of the Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung, showcase the exciting artistic practices of working with glass—whether molded, blown, cut, uncut, free-formed, or sandblasted. They also show forward-looking developments in the combination of glass with photography, video, and performance, with poetry and light, electronics, or artificial intelligence.

The exhibition is curated by Petra Giloy-Hirtz and Eva-Maria Fahrner-Tutsek.
