20-minute guided tour followed by a lunchtime snack
with Barbara Kunze

The English painter Julian Opie came to his unmistakable pictorial language through intensive observation and collecting of ancient art from Roman, Greek and Egyptian culture. Julian Opie acquired particularly fascinating pieces so that he could look at them again and again to find out why they appealed to him so much. In doing so, he noticed that in all the works of art, it was always just a few characteristics in the face or posture of the person depicted that made them stand out. This gave birth to the idea and the innovative concept for which Julian Opie became famous: reduction to the essentials.

Experience contemporary art in the compact format of a lunch break! The Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung’s Lunch Breaks offer intellectual nourishment and culinary delight at the BlackBox. The foundation’s team provides 20 minutes of insights into the current show on changing artworks and themes. Afterwards, there will be the opportunity to exchange ideas over a midday snack – either in the sculpture garden or the BlackBox, depending on the weather. The lunch snack is included in the ticket price.
