Jeff Zimmer, The fragility of Memory and Material (personal), 2018

20-minute guided tour followed by a lunchtime snack
with Sophia Holzmann

Jeff Zimmer’s installation The Fragility of Memory and Material (personal) floats in the exhibition space like a mobile. Photographs engraved in glass hold up memories of moments and people that have long since passed. A play of light and shadow is created on the walls – an unusual monument that delicately tells of transience. Zimmer’s works showcase the many ways in which glass can be used as a material, which we will explore during this lunch break. In 2019, the Edinburgh-based artist won an award for his work at the British Glass Biennale.

Experience contemporary art in the compact format of a lunch break! The Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung’s Lunch Breaks offer intellectual nourishment and culinary delight at the BlackBox. The foundation’s team provides 20 minutes of insights into the current show on changing artworks and themes. Afterwards, there will be the opportunity to exchange ideas over a midday snack – either in the sculpture garden or the BlackBox, depending on the weather. The lunch snack is included in the ticket price.
