Colin Reid in conversation with Dr. Jörg Garbrecht

Colin Reid, born in Cheshire, England in 1953, is a highly innovative artist in the field of kilncast glass. After attending St. Martin’s School of Art in London, Reid first worked in industry as a scientific glassblower, then continued his education at Stourbridge College of Art. Ever since, Reid has been considered a pioneer in kilncasting. His works are represented worldwide in institutions such as the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Kunstpalast in Düsseldorf, and National Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo. Testifying to his artistic skill, the blazing red color and inner dynamics of Reid’s Ring of Fire are stunning. Taking this monumental glass sculpture as a starting point, our artist talk provides insights into the multifaceted oeuvre of this exceptional artist.
