Artist Talk: Love, Maybe
As part of the exhibition Love, Maybe – Intimacy and Desire in Contemporary Art, the Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung, in cooperation with Haus der Kunst, is hosting an artist talk with Eli Cortiñas, Matthieu Croizier, Lea Kunz and Karla Hiraldo Voleau. Central themes will include the exploration of love and intimacy, as well as the use of visual research and artistic displays. The talk will be moderated by the guest curator of the exhibition, Jana Johanna Haeckel, and Jana Baumann, curator at Haus der Kunst.

Short Biographies of the Participants
Eli Cortiñas (*1979, Spain, lives in Berlin) creates multi-layered video essays using the medium of collage to address questions of image and body politics. She is a professor of media art at the HGB Leipzig and has shown her work at Kunstverein Braunschweig, Museum Ludwig Köln, SCHIRN Kunsthalle, SAVVY Contemporary, Kunstmuseum Bonn, and Centre Georges Pompidou, among others.
Matthieu Croizier’s photographs (*1994, Switzerland, lives in Lausanne) depict desiring, loving, and excessive bodies on the verge of monstrosity. His works have been awarded the VFG Young Talent Award 2022 and the Futures Talent Award 2021, and have been exhibited at the Athens Photo Festival, the Swiss Design Awards, and Photoforum Pasquart, among others.
Lea Kunz’s photographs (*1991, Switzerland, lives in the Swiss Jura) document moments of freedom, detachment, and radical intimacy. Her works have recently been shown in solo exhibitions at Galerie Kollaborativ, Berlin, and Galerie Stephan Witschi, Zurich, as well as in group exhibitions at Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin, and Musée des Beaux-Arts Le Locle (CH).
Karla Hiraldo Voleau (*1992, Dominican Republic, lives in Lausanne) uses photography and performance for a radical exploration of the body and identity. Hiraldo Voleau was a Foam Talent 2020 and recipient of the Olympus Recommended Fellowship 2020. Her project “Another Love Story” was presented in a solo exhibition at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris and at Photoforum Pasquart in 2022.
Jana Johanna Haeckel holds a PhD in art history and is an independent curator and writer. She currently teaches as a guest professor at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent (KASK, Belgium) and lives in Brussels. After Veronika Epple from C/O Berlin, Jana Johanna Haeckel is the second curator to be supported by the Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung as part of its new “Young Curators” funding program.
Jana Baumann has been a curator at Haus der Kunst in Munich since 2018, where she was most recently responsible for the Rebecca Horn retrospective. She previously worked in the contemporary art department at the Städel Museum in Frankfurt.
