Sergey Melnitchenko in conversation with Dr. Petra Giloy-Hirtz
Sergey Melnitchenko, born in Mykolayiv in southern Ukraine in 1991, is considered the “rising star of the Ukrainian underground photography community”. The founder of the School of Conceptual and Art Photography MYPH and member of the Ukrainian Photo Alternative is usually part of the “community” he photographs, for instance, when he works in Chinese night clubs as a dancer. There he shot the series “Behind the Scenes”, for which he received the Leica Oskar Barnack Award Newcomer 2017. Themes such as masculinity in Ukraine or queer, transsexual, and other marginalized identities inform his already diverse body of work in photography, animation, collage, and installation. The conversation will also revolve around his life and art in times of war.
The event will be held in English.
The ticket will be delivered by email.
