Prize winning exhibition architecture

Winner Interior Design Award 2024

The exhibition architecture for The World in My Hand by Ester Bruzkus Architekten, Berlin, has been awared the Interior Design Award 2024. The jury of 14 international design experts selected the temporary architecture by Ester Bruzkus and Peter Greenberg as the best in the Public Interior Design / Gallery category.

“Our idea for the exhibition architecture transforms the monolithic ‘white cube’ of the existing BlackBox into a sequence of rooms lined up along its central axis. Both materially and structurally, we refer to the great tradition of art exhibitions,” says Ester Bruzkus, ‘such as the enfilade in the Alte Pinakothek in Munich by Leo von Klenze.”

The translucent walls and their implied inner structure are celebrated at the Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung. “We also refer to contemporary installations of translucent spaces,” explains Peter Greenberg, ”such as the gauze worlds of Robet Irwin or the delicate spatial architectures of Do Ho Suh.” With their thoughtful and elegant exhibition design, Ester Bruzkus and Peter Greenberg have created a material reality that enhances the experience of the artworks and the space surrounding them in a unique and exciting way.

You can find out more about the background to the exhibition architecture in the accompanying publication “The World in My Hand – telephone directory”, available from the Alexander Tutsek-Stifung online-store.
