Pioneer workshop Digital Tools in the Cast Glass Process at TURBA Factory Berlin
The Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung sponsored a pioneering workshop at the TURBA Factory Berlin in March. Five participating artists had the unique opportunity to learn new perspectives and creative possibilities when working with cast glass with the help of digital tools.
The intensive two-week course provided the participants with theoretical and practical insights into 3D scanning, parametric design and polygon modeling. This enables the artists to reproduce the finest details such as fingerprints or plant impressions in cast glass. They can now also create digitally modifiable and scalable casting molds and archive them digitally.
The workshop was led by experienced glass sculptor, mold maker and casting technician Alan Horsley (Bärenglas) and artist Marlene Bart (TURBA e.V.), who conducts research at the interface of art and science.
