New Exhibition Love, Maybe Now Open
The new exhibition Love, Maybe – Intimacy and Desire in Contemporary Art opened in the BlackBox and the new BlackBox FirstFloor of the Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung on Thursday, 6 February 2025. More than 230 visitors came to see the new show of contemporary photography and sculptures with glass. Many of the 24 international artists represented in the exhibition were also present that evening. For the first time, an exhibition was curated by an external art historian: Dr. Jana Johanna Haeckel had been invited as part of the Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung’s funding program “young female curators”. The program offers the opportunity to curate an exhibition and publish an accompanying catalogue.
After a welcome by the foundation’s chairwoman Dr Eva-Maria Fahrner-Tutsek, the curator of the exhibition gave a brief introduction to the exhibition. The guests then enjoyed lively conversations while exploring the exhibition and the new art spaces on two floors.
Love, Maybe is dedicated to the possibilities and challenges of depicting love in contemporary art and addresses the following questions: What ideas and prejudices shape our understanding of love and intimacy? What images are missing from our collective memory, especially with regard to empathic forms of togetherness?
