About this podcast
For years, the Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung has been collecting, preserving, and researching glass in the context of contemporary art. What began in December 2000 as a vision—to sustainably strengthen the neglected, overlooked, or even unique and special aspects of art and science—has now become one of the most significant collections of contemporary glass in art worldwide.

The anniversary exhibition Future Horizons: Glass in Contemporary Art brings together sculptures and installations by around 50 international artists. The third season of the Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung podcast takes you on a journey through this art collection and the fascinating world of working with glass in contemporary art. Each episode features artists from the exhibition or experts who work with glass in contemporary art.

Episode 3: Ann Wolff and Andante
with Ayşegül Cihangir and original recordings by Ann Wolff

The sculpture Andante by German-Swedish artist Ann Wolff depicts two female figures made of amber-colored glass—one stepping in, the other stepping out. Between them is an empty space—these are the spaces of experience that fascinate Ann Wolff. This episode is about the life and work of one of the most important artists working with glass. For more than forty years, Ann Wolff has been creating works about identity, about the self and the other, about the big questions of being human. From her beginnings at the legendary Ulm School of Design, through her years in Swedish glass factories, to her time with Pina Bausch in Wuppertal – Ann Wolff's artistic path has been marked by constant reinvention.

We talk to Ayşegül Cihangir, art historian and employee of the Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung, about:

● The sculpture Andante (2005) and its significance
● Wolff's struggle for visibility as an artist in the 1960s
● The connection between dance, movement, and glass
● Her work with negative forms and the question of identity
● Her life on Gotland
Exhibition: Future Horizons – until May 2026 at BlackBox and BlackBox FirstFloor, Parkstadt Schwabing, Munich (https://atstiftung.de/aktuell/)
