exhibition view Love, Maybe - Intimacy and Desire in Contemporary Art

Love, Maybe off to a very successful start

Program note: Artist talk Love, Maybe on 8 May 2025

The show Love, Maybe – Intimacy and Desire in Contemporary Art has been on display in the exhibition spaces of the Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung –BlackBox and BlackBox FirstFloor – since February 7, 2025 and is very popular with the media and visitors. Works by Nan Goldin, Ren Hang and Paul Mpagi Sepuya, among others, can be admired.

Tanja Beuthien writes in the April issue of art das Kunstmagazin:
The title of the exhibition refers to the poem Love, Maybe by African-American author Audre Lorde, which celebrates love as a creative force. … This can now be marveled at in this small, fine show.

And Thomas Honickel in the 04/2025 issue of Photonews – Zeitung für Fotografie:
From now on, the Tutsek-Stiftung can confidently be counted among the must-sees when it comes to photography in Munich. … (Thomas Honickel in the 04/2025 issue of Photonews – Zeitung für Photographie)

The exhibition is accompanied by a program in the form of lunch breaks and guided tours, which will provide multi-layered insights into the challenges and possibilities of depicting love in contemporary art.

One highlight is the artist talk on Thursday, 8 May 2025 at 5.30 pm. The central themes will be the exploration of love and intimacy as well as the use of visual research and artistic displays. The panel will include the artists Eli Cortiñas, Matthieu Croizier, Lea Kunz and Karla Hiraldo Voleau, whose works can be seen in the exhibition. The talk will be moderated by Jana Johanna Haeckel, guest curator of the exhibition, and Jana Baumann, curator at Haus der Kunst.

The event takes place in cooperation with Haus der Kunst Munich and is part of VARIOUS OTHERS – Contemporary Art Munich.

The talk will be held in English and participation is free of charge, tickets are available here.
