Artworks for Coburg Prize for Contemporary Glass 2022 Are Nominated

In 2022, the Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung will once again make possible the awarding of the Coburg Glass Prize, the most important competition for contemporary art made of glass in Europe. The sponsorship includes financial support for the prize and the associated exhibition as well as the endowment of two special prizes – the Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung Prize and the Alexander Tutsek Prize for Senior Artists.

Recently, the participants for the Coburg Prize for Contemporary Glass 2022 have been selected. Around 400 artists from all over the world send their application to take part in The Coburg Prize for Contemporary Glass 2022. In total, the seven-member jury examined over 700 objects for the accompanying exhibition and, in a multi-stage process, selected around 100 works by 89 artists. These will be exhibited from 10 April to 25 September 2022 at the Veste Coburg and in the European Museum for Modern Glass in Rödental. The winners will be announced on 9 April, 2022.

The accompanying exhibition will highlight current trends and developments in contemporary art made of glass. The range of techniques used and artistic design is wide, as is the variety of artistic statements. Many of the submitted works deal with highly topical themes. They deal with social tensions and our fragile livelihoods. The Coburg Glass Prize for Contemporary Glass 2022 will have a special accent in the International Year of Glass, which is accompanied by festivals, workshops and activities organized worldwide.
